Brazilian Culture

The country of carnival, capoeira and maracatu, Brazil is a mixture of races and rhythms, an explosion of joy and festive folklore. The foundation of brazilian culture has been shaped throughout centuries of colonial rule and the mix of indigenous, Portuguese andAfrican traditions, resulting in a culture of miscegenation.

From the 19th century onward, the arrival of European, Arab and Asian immigrants expanded the country’s cultural panorama. In the last few decades we have also been strongly influenced by the world’s major cultural centers, such as France, England and, more recently, the United States. The result of all this has been the emergence of a people with immense cultural wealth and diversity, the Brazilian people.

Celebrations, food, art, superstitious beliefs and music are a portrait of our country. From north to south, Brazil has an infinity of cultural expressions and manifestations that reflect our roots, celebrate popular knowledge and show the strength of our people.
